On Confusion at the White House...
"...liberal columnist Richard Cohen last weekend in the Washington Post asked how an "amoral creep who couldn't even get a security clearance" was in the White House. There was some confusion whether he was writing about Dick Morris or William Jefferson Blythe Clinton."

On Whose Goals?...
"A teacher friend attended a briefing on Goal 2000. One of the take home points is to make a teacher more important to the kid than his/her parents/family. Another directive is that he must "adopt" six kids in his class and take them to games and places. What about if the six kids already have strong and supportive families. Doesn't matter, he must do it or the administrators will count that against him."
--Eric Choi, in an e-mail on the Promise Keeper listserver 9/7/96.
On Money Management...
"Overall, the average Democrat spent $38,700 more to run his office than the average Republican. Of the top 50 biggest office spenders, 33 were Democrats, while of the 50 most frugal office spenders, 38 were Republican."

On Sarcasm?...
"Clinton, the man who smoked but didn't inhale, lives and breathes yes and no. He talks right and governs (when he can) left. He talks tough and governs soft. He is, in short, the perfect president for our time. And if he cuts a few ethical corners too, so what?"
--Charles Krauthammer, syndicated columnist, in the Washington Post on 7/5/96. Contributed by Steve Ertelt via C-News on 9/14/96.
On the Purpose of Discipline...
"Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
--God (via Paul?) in Hebrews 12:10-11, NIV.
